What inspired the brand name?
The name Unidentified Corporation came about because I did not want to place a limit on what I could do with the brand and I did not want it to be defined or identified by one thing. I also knew I wanted to create a diverse brand so corporation was an interesting suffix as the nature of the brand is very anti-establishment at it's core so it is also a jab at the corporate art & "streetwear" that has flooded the market recently.
At what moment did you realize you wanted to start a brand?
Around July/August 2014 is when I started seriously planning to start a brand. I knew absolutely nothing about what went into a brand but I researched for a long time and March 2015 is when I released my first product and have been growing ever since.
What helps you get over creative blocks?
Conversation, even if it is unrelated to what I'm working on I can usually pick out a word or phrase that will lead me down a creative path
What is the biggest mistake you have made?
Putting my clothes in a store on consignment. Also making certain products that are expensive that I'm not fully ready for. However all the mistakes I have made have contributed to the process of growing as a brand.
What is the biggest success you have had?
I would say my most recent pop-up shop. I was able to work with another great brand (Rottweiler) and bring something to 3rd. Avenue in down town Chula Vista which meant a lot to me because it is my hometown.
A source of inspiration people may find weird?
I really got into Lorde's music this year. I watch a lot of live music performances. I like to draw with oil pastels. Looking at women's purses. @shesvague & @diet_prada on Instagram.
Favorite color to use?
I don't have a specific color I like using more than others. I choose colors based on what I am feeling at the moment.
Another Brand that inspires you and why?
Fuct because they paved the way for the streetwear genre and have been able to maintain relevancy for a long time.
Where do you see yourself and the brand in 1 year and 5 years?
Working on progressing as an artist and possibly running for local government. For the brand I want to continue to grow organically and expand my range of products. I am in the process of planning a retail space for my brand and others when the opportunity presents itself.
