Website: impossibleconversations.com
Year Started: 2016
Founder/s Name: Guy
City Based: London, UK
What inspired the brand name?
The name came from having chats with my friends about weird subjects that were impossible to answer, such as 'If space is expanding, what is it expanding into?'. I mentioned at the time that these were 'Impossible Conversations' and from there the name really stuck.
At what moment did you realize you wanted to start a brand?
I realized that I didn't want to work in some dead end job my entire life after leaving university really, I had to start earning a wage by myself so I began creating clothing in the hope of earning some money.
What helps you get over creative blocks?
Listening to new music seems to help a lot, and listening to OG Playboi Carti. For some reason that really gets me creating new ideas. Also a lot of my friends are really creative, so hanging around with them can be really inspiring.
What is the biggest mistake you have made?
I Paypal gifted a large amount of money to a manufacturers once because I didn't have any money left to pay for the insurance to cover the transaction. I hadn't even really ever heard of them either, was very lucky that they came through with the shipment and didn't run off with the money!
What is the biggest success you have had?
Whenever a collection sells out I consider that a huge success for the brand, as its amazing to have such a wicked following. Seeing packs go out to all over the world is a crazy special feeling for sure.
A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION PEOPLE MAY FIND WEIRD?
Looking out to sea is for some reason really inspirational for me, it sounds weird but sitting on a beach in the evening and looking out to sea gets me thinking a lot for some reason.
Favorite color to use?
I love blue & white, and black & yellow, but I often try to incorporate as much color as I can in designs usually.
ARE THERE ANY RETAIL SHOPS YOU WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU BRAND IN?
Not really to be honest, I really like the idea of the brand being exclusively online, plus this allows people from all over the globe to cop stuff if they want something from a UK brand but live far away.
ANOTHER BRAND THAT INSPIRES YOU AND WHY?
UK brands SCRT and SET are really dope, I love SET's signet rings, would love to do some jewelry one day. I just like them because they're super clean and have a nice aesthetic going on.
Where do you see yourself and the brand in 1 year and 5 years?
I'm always putting in work for the brand every single day so hopefully just onwards and upwards from here really! Hopefully I'll become wiser as the years go on too.
In 5 words or less describe your brand?
Graphic design inspired streetwear.
