What inspired the brand name?
Malcriado is a term given to bad mannered kids. Mal means Bad in spanish and Criado means Created. The literal meaning of the word is badly created. Growing up this term was thrown at me a lot and when i decided to do the brand i wanted the name to have a deeper meaning and have a name that means something to the culture that we are pushing.
At what moment did you realize you wanted to start a brand?
I’ve always been graphic designing cover arts, and designed ideas for other brands but i realized it was time for me to express myself through Malcriado once i had came up with the brand name and logo, it automatically felt deeper and i felt that i had something that could transcend from just another t shirt brand.
What helps you get over creative blocks?
Getting off social media for a few weeks helps me ground myself and gets me away from the overnight fashion trends.
What is the biggest mistake you have made?
When i had my first drop getting everything into production was a roller coaster and i had announced the drop to be in July of 2019 but it wasn’t fully ready until October of 2019. I learned that patience and planning ahead in this industry really makes everything easier and allows for more attention to detail.
What is the biggest success you have had?
The biggest success i’ve had is having the support of the city
A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION PEOPLE MAY FIND WEIRD?
I find a lot of inspiration in Mexico’s politics and the history of the country.

Baby Blue
ARE THERE ANY RETAIL SHOPS YOU WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU BRAND IN?
I’ve never really liked the idea of selling at a retail shop because of inventory, i like to keep my own and sell directly to my audience.
ANOTHER BRAND THAT INSPIRES YOU AND WHY?
Born X Raised, is a huge inspiration because of the cultural history that it carries and the brand has always kept it real with what it symbolizes. Watching Alex grow into the creative he is now and how he portrays the brand has been a huge inspiration and he’s a real great guy.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AND THE BRAND IN 1 YEAR AND 5 YEARS?
In 1 year i see the brand staying consistent and the audience growing. In 5 years I think the brand could be one of the top 3 in underground streetwear.
