Website: www.vautour.co
What inspired the brand name?
I was looking at pictures of vultures trying to think of a shirt design and typed "Vulture" into google translate using English to French. "Vautour" Popped up and I thought it looked and sounded beautiful.
At what moment did you realize you wanted to start a brand?
When I started messing around with my style in high school trying to find certain pieces / themes and realized I couldn't find said pieces so I started researching how to make my own.
What helps you get over creative blocks?
Listening to music, watching movies, looking at art, looking at other people's creations basically.
What is the biggest mistake you have made?
Right now for sure has to have not been marketing before launching, even though we've done farewell for our launch I believe it could have been better if I had took more marketing steps before hand, but it's all a learning process!
What is the biggest success you have had?
While I haven't had any big names in the clothing or stuff like that, I've gotten GREAT feedback from people receiving the shirts talking about the quality and that makes me extremely happy that the product is being received like I believed it would!
Favorite color to use?
Right now I like to stick to grey-scale colors, but i'm finding a lot of inspiration delving into more bright/ toned bright colors
A source of inspiration people may find weird?
Movies usually when watching movies I have my sketchbook near me or my phone's notes open and i'll just get struck with inspiration by a few words or a scene.
Another Brand that inspires you and why?
Hidden Characters, Effulgence , Menace, Off-White, Yeezy. Each for their own different reason like with Hidden Characters I really like their dark designs/style/anime references done in a clean and accessible way. Effulgence for their packaging on certain products and presentation. Menace while I like their designs, their rise/grind really inspires me since I have been following them for a bit on KanyeToThe (KTT). Off-White/Yeezy for how powerful they are culture wise and how they shift it. Yeezy also because I've always been super impressed by Kanye's Drive and his "Get Shit Done" mentality that's something i'm trying to really instill in myself.
Where do you see yourself and the brand in 1 year and 5 years?
1 Year from now i'd like to be working towards releasing more full collections/getting more of my design into reality other than just sitting in my sketch book. Building a more concrete brand image and style. 5 years i'd like to be in retail stores / hosting pop up shops and design a few pieces around each pop up is something I'd love to do!
