What inspired the brand name?
I put way too much thought into this. I wanted the name to represent the thematic drive of the brand on multiple levels. In my mind the brand is rooted both in our ties to our planet and our failures as a species and how those relate.
At what moment did you realize you wanted to start a brand?
I wanted to start a brand since I was a kid. I never pursued design or art, but I would always write down ideas for graphics, and I would talk about how I wished a well executed sustainable streetwear brand would be around cause I would cop everything they dropped. My wife asked me why I thought I couldn’t start one. After lots of self-doubt i started to dabble in design and been honing the craft since.
What helps you get over creative blocks?
Watching film or reading books. The ideas contained within those mediums and the ways in which they convey deeper meanings is mad inspiring.
What is the biggest mistake you have made?
Waiting so long to pursue this.
What is the biggest success you have had?
For the brand, It’s been pretty much selling through each drop. Last drop sold through most everything overnight. Outside of the brand, convincing a woman to be with me for the rest of her life is a pretty big success story.
A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION PEOPLE MAY FIND WEIRD?
The bible, I think its view of humanity and failure is very interesting, and its use of imagery is amazing.
Favorite color to use?
Greyscale, I’m colorblind so using multiple colors is very hard.
ARE THERE ANY RETAIL SHOPS YOU WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU BRAND IN?
I’d love to see it in a local shop called Steadbrook in Denver among other boutiques, and ultimately one day in places like REI. big hopes of a tiny brand, I know.
ANOTHER BRAND THAT INSPIRES YOU AND WHY?
If you know me, you know i mostly wear two brands. Mine and Hidden Characters. Their storytelling and mythology is the most inspiring. They have an insane way of weaving their narrative into cultural references while maintaining compelling design, and the way they built the most loyal fanbase from the Hypebeast forums. NP we in dis.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AND THE BRAND IN 1 YEAR AND 5 YEARS?
I would love to be doing this full time in a couple of years, and in 5 years I would love to be an industry leader in sustainability. May sound wild, but the industry needs sustainable solutions
IN 5 WORDS OR LESS DESCRIBE YOUR BRAND?
Don’t shit on the planet.
