What inspired the brand name?

My brand came from me wanting to be known as a designer. The name has a designer feel and sound to it, that provides nostalgic high end aesthetic that my brand revolves around. The brand B. Jochannan is a family oriented brand. I look to my family for inspiration and criticism.

At what moment did you realize you wanted to start a brand?

In a way I’ve always wanted to have my own brand. Growing up watching my dad be heavy into the fashion community it was in my blood. So as soon as I graduated college I took it to another level by perfecting my craft. Since then I’ve been going non stop building the brand I believe can be known all around the world.

What helps you get over creative blocks?

I usually rely on meditation, scenery, and music. I definitely rely on these three things to help me through my creative processes. I used to be get upset when I hit a wall in creating. When I started channeling my energy into positive thoughts I seen that working through the creative block is when my thoughts are the most creative.

What is the biggest mistake you have made?

The biggest mistake I ever made was doubting myself in the city I’m from. Growing up I was born and raised in Augusta Ga. after college I took my talents to the streets of Atlanta where I made a name for myself I hadn’t made in the city I was born in.

What is the biggest success you have had?

I believe I’ve had some huge success as a designer/ brand owner, if I had to pick just one it would be being apart of a fashion show in Atlanta that was put on my infinite Appeal, but other than that moment I believe my biggest success is still in motion now. I’m currently working on a great project that will help me secure a lot of stability throughout life and inside the fashion community.

A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION PEOPLE MAY FIND WEIRD?

The style and nostalgia from the athletes and celebrities from the 70s & 80s.

Favorite color to use?

I love the color brown! Honestly I believe I can come out with a collection of different shades of brown and it be one of the hottest in my area!

ARE THERE ANY RETAIL SHOPS YOU WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU BRAND IN?

I’d love to see my stuff in Hatclub NoHo, Goodtimes ATL, and Verzus ATL

ANOTHER BRAND THAT INSPIRES YOU AND WHY?

The brand Rhude that is designed and created by Rhugi. His brand just represents life. I see a lot of similarities between our ideas. I try not to look into other brands for inspiration because I want mine ideas to come natural.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AND THE BRAND IN 1 YEAR AND 5 YEARS?

In 1 year I see my brand making its way to other major cities Houston, NYC, LA, and Miami! I want to spread my vision all over! Seeing celebrities in my hats and overseas sales is what I see for the near future! As for 5 years I see myself running my own store displaying all of my visions and other designer brands!
