What inspired the brand name?

Despierta is created and cultivated in New York City. Inspired by our Latin roots and inner city lifestyle, we dedicate our time to make our pieces aesthetically pleasing. Everything is made locally here by us. This project began as a hobby and is growing into something bigger. Our long term goal is to open up a store/studio space.

At what moment did you realize you wanted to start a brand?

We realized we wanted to be a brand one day while we were all trapping in my friends house, when we were 19-20 years old. Specially one day we were all hitting up a canvas together, we came to realize we need to create a brand. Technically we started off as graffiti taggers than got into the whole streetwear scene.

What helps you get over creative blocks?

Weed and chaos that happens in the city.

What is the biggest mistake you have made?

Procrastinating

What is the biggest success you have had?

When Dave East bought our hat out in Japan and he didn’t even know who we were.
